Turns out I’ll be dating my boyfriend for close to 3 years now. Time goes by FAST! I wanted to write him a “normal” song that he’d be “ok” with forwarding to his family. Apparently, a song containing lyrics like “eat your dandruff like a line of coke” might not be the best to forward to the mom. So I came up with a song about a dancing pig. Then one about fruit that’s not sweet enough to eat yet. Finally, I ended up with what is now “Above All” — a standard upbeat love pop melody. After I finished recording and was somewhat satisfied with the rough mix I had, I realized I totally forgot to record vocals for the bridge. In the end, I decided to leave them out! And sent the song through a flanger… on accident… …then decided it was a happy mistake and sounded fine anyway! Random: If you put “Galvanize” by Chemical Brothers in the playlist after this song, the transition sounds kinda cool! I’m a dork…
